    Viewing will be 5 to 8 p.m. April 5 and 1-4 p.m. April 6, at Prewitt’s Funeral Home.
Aida died April 3 of sarcoma at Sitka Community Hospital. She was 66.
She was born Nov. 8, 1946, in Vigan, Philippines, the daughter of Avelino A. and Aurora A. Alebin Arce.
In 1970, she traveled from the Philippines to Honolulu, Hawaii, to pursue her dream of giving her parents and siblings a better future in the United State – a dream she fulfilled. She moved to Sitka in 1980, and made it her permanent home.
She loved cooking, and was a cook for 23 years at the Sitka Pioneers Home, and part-time for McDonald’s restaurant.
She liked reading and watching her favorite TV shows, and greatly enjoyed traveling, in the U.S., the Philippines, Europe and Germany.
Aida was very giving, loving and positive, and a hard worker,
She took care of everyone, and her whole family will forever be grateful for her selflessness and devotion, a family member said. “Her relatives, friends and co-workers will miss her dearly.”
Aida was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic church.
She is survived by her husband, Mario A. Castillo; sons Adolfo Tuzon and Glenn Tuzon of Sitka and Justine Castillo of the Philippines; her mother, Aurora A. Arce; siblings Mario Arce, Ray Arce, Efren Arce, Dennis Arce, Olive Carrazco, Wilma Buen and Lindao Ragadi; and grandchildren Sayer Tuzon and Kekoa Tuzon.
Also surviving are brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mario A. Castillo, 102 Austin St., Sitka.

Thanks to the generosity and expertise of the the Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska broadband department, Tidal Network ; Christopher Cropley, director of Tidal Network; and Luke Johnson, Tidal Network technician, SitkaSentinel.com is again being updated. Tidal Network has been working tirelessly to install Starlink satellite equipment for city and other critical institutions, including the Sentinel, following the sudden breakage of GCI's fiberoptic cable on August 29, which left most of Sitka without internet or phone connections. CCTHITA's public-spirited response to the emergency is inspiring.
