Louis Philip Floor

Louis Philip Floor, a former Sitka resident, died at his home in Las Vegas Nev., on April 10, 2013. He was 60.
He was born in Las Vegas on Feb. 13, 1953, and graduated from Las Vegas High School.
Mr. Floor came to Sitka in 1984, and worked at Spenard Builders Supply. He moved to Chugiak in July 1994, and lived there until 2011 when, for health reasons, he returned to Las Vegas, where his mother and sister were living.
Although his life started and ended in Las Vegas, his happiest years were spent in Alaska, his family said. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and boating.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his son, Philip Louis Wayne “Bud” Floor of Chugiak; daughters Tara Uddipa of Las Vegas, Trisha Floor of San Diego and Krista Hammock of Sitka; his loving mother, Carol Jean Brown of Las Vegas; a sister, Ginny Young of Las Vegas; grandsons Trevor Uddipa and Kealani Uddipa of Las Vegas, and Gavin Hammock, Trenton Hammock and Killian Hammock, all of Sitka; and other members of his loving family.
A family service was held in Las Vegas. No services are scheduled in Sitka.

Thanks to the generosity and expertise of the the Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska broadband department, Tidal Network ; Christopher Cropley, director of Tidal Network; and Luke Johnson, Tidal Network technician, SitkaSentinel.com is again being updated. Tidal Network has been working tirelessly to install Starlink satellite equipment for city and other critical institutions, including the Sentinel, following the sudden breakage of GCI's fiberoptic cable on August 29, which left most of Sitka without internet or phone connections. CCTHITA's public-spirited response to the emergency is inspiring.
