Former Sitka resident John Eimers passed away Aug. 30 in Meridian, Idaho, at the age of 75.
He was born Dec. 9, 1937, in Martinez, Calif., and when he was young his his family moved to Lewiston, Idaho.
He moved to Sitka in 1963 and taught physical education in Sitka schools for many years. He married Joelle Barden here in 1974, and they returned to Idaho in 1989.
He recently retired from Micron Technology in Boise.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David.
He is survived by wife Joelle of Meridian; his sister Anny Syvestri of Clarkston, Wash.; daughters Marcia (Bill) Arnold of Lewiston, Colleen of Meridian, and Carolyn of Henderson, Nev.; son Don Eimers of Lewiston; and three grandchildren, Tyler, Jessie and Kyle.
As he requested, no funeral services were held. His ashes will be scattered in the desert and on the fishing grounds that he loved.

CCTHITA's public-spirited response to the emergency is inspiring.
