Charles B.P. Sellar died of natural causes on the evening of Dec.  21, 2013, in Sitka.  He was 85 years old.
Charlie was born in Piedmont, W.Va.. on Sept. 13, 1928.  He moved to Leesburg, Fla., shortly after and lived in Florida most of his life.
In November 2012 he moved to Sitka to live with his daughter, Carin Adickes, and her family. 
Charlie attended The Citadel for one year before entering the U.S. Naval Academy in July 1946.  He graduated in June 1950.  He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps and deployed to Korea for a year before resigning his commission in January 1954 as a Captain.  He graduated from the University of Florida College of Law in 1957.
He practiced law in Leesburg for 43 years, specializing in real estate, trust and estate law until his retirement in January 2000. 
Charlie was very active in a variety of civic and professional organizations.  He was a longtime member of Rotary, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Leesburg for more than 70 years.
Charlie loved reading, history, and travel – trekking in Nepal, and touring New Zealand, Australia, and all over Europe, the U.S.  and Canada.  He visited Sitka 16 times before moving to live here in 2012. He thought Sitka a wonderful place to be. 
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 31 years Carolyn in 1985.  He is survived by his daughters, Carin (Bill) Adickes of Sitka and Carol (Chris) Hagon of Leesburg; and six grandchildren, Ryan and Tim Adickes, and four others in Florida.
A memorial service will be held in Florida on Feb. 15 at the First Presbyterian Church of Leesburg.  Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Harbor in Sitka or to the Leesburg Humane Society at 41250 Emeralda Island Road, Leesburg, FL, 34788.
