Former Sitkan Jack Roy Revard, 68, of Florence, Ariz., passed away on Dec. 27, 2014 in Mesa, Arizona.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 5, 2015, at San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home in Queen Creek, Ariz. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Phoenix. A reception will be held at the family home, 5691 West Admiral Way in Florence.
Jack Revard was born in Tacoma, Wash., to Edna and Charles (aka Jack) Revard on April 26, 1946. He graduated from Sitka High School in 1964.
He married Valerie Dean on March 17, 1967, in Boise, Idaho.
In February 1965, he joined the United States Navy. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the PCF 102 Coastal Patrol Division “Swift Boats.” He later served aboard the USS Clarion River and USS Vernon County off the coast of Viet Nam.
He also served at U.S. Naval Southern Command Headquarters in the Panama Canal Zone, in Sardinia, Italy, on board the USS Howard W. Gilmore, and with Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 24, Rota, Spain.
Among honors and citations he received was the Navy Achievement Medal, which he was awarded twice. Following his Naval career he and his family returned to Sitka, where he worked for Samson Tug and Barge from 1978 through 1996.
When Jack retired in 1996, he and his wife relocated to Palm Springs, Calif., where they opened a cruise travel agency and traveled the world.
They moved to Florence in 2005.
Jack was preceded in death by his father Jack, and his stepfather Werner “Rudy” Branlund.
He is survived by his spouse Valerie, of Florence; his daughters Ann (John Mosqueda) Revard of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Tiffany Revard of Florence; his brothers Jim (Cathy) Revard of Sitka John Revard of Bellingham, Wash., and Joseph Revard of Seattle; his mother Edna Branlund, of Florence; grandchildren Celeste Mosqueda of Florence and Grayson Revard of Florence; and step-brother Walter “Wally” Branlund of Reno, Nev.
His nephews Cameron and Charles and his nieces Kelly and Rachel, all of Bellingham; and a host of friends and shipmates also survive.
The family wishes Jack’s many friends to know that he died as he lived, not afraid to fight for life and not afraid to die, always concerned more for those he would leave behind than himself.
Pallbearers will be John Revard, Joseph Revard, John Mosqueda and Gregory Raines.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Banner MDAnderson Cancer Center, the doctors and nurses in the Emergency Department of Banner Ironwood Hospital, and the Intensive Care Unit at Banner Gateway Hospital.

Sheldon Jackson College will host the Jammin’ Salmon second annual art exhibit in the Rasmuson Student Center. Dozens of salmon created by Sitka artist will be shown and music by Flutopia, John Simmons, Sarah Coon and the SJC environmental science student songsters will be on the program.

Soroptimists initiated three new members and welcomed them into the club. They are Joyce MacDonald, co-owner of MacDonald’s Store for Men; Imogene Thorburn, co-owner of Sitka Hobby House; and Anna Terpsma, office manager for Sitka Redi-Mix.
