Wonderful Trails

Dear two-legged and four-legged friends: I have to take my two-legged mom on three walks a day or she gets a bit squirrely and makes me dance in the evening.  It’s exhausting.  We go walking no matter what even if my mom has to put on her spikey things on her bottom paws or wear her crunchy jacket when it’s wet out.

Mom takes us to the best places to walk, she’s a good driver. We have nuggets of joy on every walk we take on all the awesome trails we have in our fantastic little town. (Even though mom gets mad at me when I eat some nuggets.)

Mom and I would like to thank all involved in providing us lovely trails to tromp on. We appreciate all including those that find the funding, build the trails and maintain and manage the trails. We are grateful for every amazing walk we take, especially me so my mom goes to bed on time! Phew! Thank you all! See you on the trails!

Sincerely,

Tux

(with Mom Paula Clayton)

‘The Lorax’ Showing

Dear Editor: Following the Parade of Species on April 22, Earth Day, the 50-year-old original film, ‘‘The Lorax,’’ will be screened on Zoom at 6:30 p.m. This animated film can be appreciated by children and adults alike because its messages are still very relevant.

Dr. Seuss introduces the Once-ler, a reckless entrepreneur who destroys the environment. The Lorax is a creature who speaks for the trees and all creatures whose lives are worsened by environmental degradation. When, finally, the Once-ler accepts responsibility, the environment can be restored. Register today for this free movie and discussion at https://tinyurl.com/transitionsitka. This is a family-friendly option for a Friday night on Earth Day, including questions for children.
