Crescent Parking
Dear Editor: During my twice daily trips over the past month, to check on my boat pumps in Crescent Harbor, I have noticed two classes of citizens in the Crescent Harbor parking lot. There are those who can leave their vehicles as long as they like. Then there are those who get parking tickets. Personally, I thought about leaving my van down there to see which class I belong to. But, really, I like to fight with the city, but I also like to take breaks between battles.
I am not choosing my battles, just skipping one.
Just as an experiment, one vehicle that does not have to move has the license plate DPN932. This vehicle has been in exactly the same spot for a month. It has been there both morning and evening, everytime I developed pump paranoia.
So do we know who we are among those of us who bond as parking violators with impunity? Is there a secret sign? There certainly are no window stickers or other visible evidence of parking permits. I guess we just know. We know who isn’t one of us. Those folks who get tickets just aren’t in the real society. It is implicit. Or complicit? Something like that.
I am going to advocate for no parking tickets for anybody. There always are plenty of spaces. Let us seek social verification by higher means.
