Dear Editor: Maite Lorente and Stephen Lawrie wish to thank the following for their invaluable help in producing the exhibit “The Squirrel and the Bear,” a collection of paintings and writings about Eric and Pam Bealer.
Mike and Tonya Venneberg for the wonderful exhibit space; Sitka Conservation Society director Andrew Thoms and the board of SCS, in particular Marian Allen and Pat Kehoe, Rebecca Poulson and Eugene Solovyov, for their informative and fun presentations; Cleo and Scott Brylinsky, and Belly Meat, for the perfect music background; the Sitka Sentinel and Raven Radio for all their advertising and PSAs; Mary and Patrick, the amazingly generous owners of the Mean Queen; Ken Fate; Norm Campbell for his quiet, steady moral support throughout the production of this work; and of course, all of you wonderful art appreciators who attended the opening and the following two weeks to help pay tribute to the Bealers and their contribution to the enjoyment and preservation of the Tongass.

Library Pub Quiz
Dear Editor: The celebration of the Sitka Public Library’s 100th anniversary is winding down. On the 20th of April the Library Pub Quiz was held.
Here are the results: first place, Gun Dogs with Ann Alquist, Eric Calvin, and Elle Campbell; second place, Re (a)doubt Salmon, with Frank Eccher and Lucas Opgenorth; third place, Old Harbor Books Team 2 with Ashia Lane and Callie Simmons.
Other teams involved included: Old Harbor Books Team 1, Outercoasters,
Innercoasters, and For Arts Sake, who won the best team outfits.
Prizes were awarded. Thank you to the following Sitka stores: Old Harbor Books, Harry Race, the Beak, Fate Accompli, Russell’s, and the Chocolate Moose.
Thank you to our two excellent scorekeepers: Cleo Brylinsky and Nicole Filipek.
Crystal Duncan was the emcee with pizzazz and zing! Kari Sagel was the mastermind and engineer behind the questions and the event, and Michelle Dominguez ran the audience participation part with her own brand of oomph and panache.
Thank you to Paulla Hardy and John and Karen Weitkamp for their help. As always, the Harrigan Centennial staff were super helpful and made it easy to get things organized. Dan Etulain of North Star TV was there to film the event. Thank you to the Daily Sitka Sentinel for running the PSAs and Shannon Hougland for her article about the event, as always appreciated. Don’t miss the Louise Brightman tea, scheduled for Sunday, April 30, she was a Sitka librarian for 40 years.
