Chemical Spraying
Dear Editor: The governor’s office has adopted regulations that allow state agencies to spray herbicides and pesticides on state property and rights of way.
Large scale applications of toxic chemicals within the borough is a serious threat to the health of all of us and our pets, birds and wildlife. One concern is the roadside berry-picking of these wonderful salmonberries.
A few years ago this issue came up of the use of poisonous chemicals to control the brush growth along the highways. The public was outraged and the state has been using manpower successfully for mowing and cutting, keeping the bush under control.
