Electric Vehicle Count
Dear Editor: Sitka is one of the leading communities worldwide for electric vehicle ownership, at close to 1 EV per 100 residents. There are likely at least 80 EVs in Sitka, and we are trying to get a more accurate estimate of this number.
If you are an EV owner and would like to help, please e-mail Dave at soundsofalaska@yahoo.com to be counted. If you like, please also indicate the age of your vehicle (as well as any other information you think may be of interest).
We are not collecting any personal information – simply trying to get a count of EVs in Sitka.

SEARHC Hospital
Dear Editor: The heart of Sitka is the diverse community that comprises so many ethnicities. We truly are blessed by how Sitka is such an inclusive community, ready to recognize the many cultures and races we represent. As our community transitions from two hospitals to one, it is understandable that we wonder how SEARHC will transition its hospital service and presence in Sitka. That SEARHC will endeavor and promote an atmosphere of diversity and inclusion that recognizes all their employees and all residents of the community with all cultures being of equal value.
The storyteller Ola Joseph has commented, ‘‘Diversity is not about how we differ. Diversity is about embracing on another’s uniqueness.’’ What an opportunity for SEARHC as they become Sitka’s hospital provider to adopt an all inclusive and diverse environment for staff, patients and Sitka residents.
