Coronavirus
Dear Editor: Hi, in a letter to the editor in the Seattle Times I asked that they shut down Seattle, King County, etc. I don’t know if they will publish it. In showing this to friends they have told me that Seattle is already shut down. I used the wrong word. Kirkland, the epicenter, at least, should be LOCKED down. No buses, visiting cars and only traffic within the locked off area. You don’t get off 405 and go to Costco. This area may need to be increased. If it includes Seattle, then planes, trains, buses should be stopped except for essential services and supplies.
Again, essential services and supplies need to be kept open. Local cars only.
China is now the safest place in the world to travel. They locked down the epicenter and shut down more than half of the people. There were 11 cases in China Friday. Seven came into the country by plane. The airplane spread the virus around the world. What do we, in Sitka, need to do?
1. The mayor, city Assembly should direct Alaska Airlines to screen all people on flights coming to Sitka. By screening I mean just a simple temperature scan. This is how they found the recent cases in China. They are set up in Seattle to screen for temperatures. We need to direct them to do it. We want to stop the disease from spreading. If we can stop the people from getting on the plane, we will have gone a long way in stopping the disease. There is no where on the plane that’s safe. Where on the plane can you be the social distance or 6 feet away from someone. Impossible!
2. We should screen for temperatures at the airport in Sitka. The screeners should wear n95 masks.
Stay healthy.
