Chess Tournament
Dear Editor: On Oct. 30, The SEER School held a Halloween-themed chess tournament for students and community members who like the thrill of playing chess. We had a great time and enjoyed a lot of strategic chess play.
We would like to send big thank you’s to the following brilliant folks who helped make this tournament a success: Nick Pearson, our chess coach, who organized, monitored, and inspired the idea of this tournament; Alexander Allison, Blatchley Middle School chess coach and teacher who lent us chess sets, clocks, and promoted this tournament with his chess club members; Heather Goss who helped organize and maintain the “Skittles Room” which was full of tasty treats and conversation; Breanne Pearson who helped observe and support this tournament; community businesses that posted our chess tournament flyers; and, the teachers and board of The SEER School who consistently encourage all of the wonderful activities held at our school.
Finally, congratulations to all of the participants and especially to the winners of this chess tournament in the Reserved Section, Timothy Pearson (first); Wilson Kimber (second); Jaedyn Waddington (third); and in the Open Section, Sean Schmidt (first); Trey Lysons (second); Aidan Horner Raffaele (third).
