Election Thank You
Dear Editor: I would like to thank everyone who voted this election, and for allowing me to serve on the Assembly for the next few years. I will do my best to do what is right for the community as a whole. I promise to listen to all sides of an issue, do my homework, and do my best to keep Sitka the best place to live in Alaska.
Once again, thanks.

Thank You, Sitka
Dear Editor: In August, I had the privilege of serving as a volunteer at Sitka Lutheran Church. I was only a few days into my assignment when I took a tumble that resulted in a nasty gash to my right hand with lots of sharp gravel embellishment. My hosts, Harvey and Kathleen Brandt, drove me to Mountainside Clinic where I received nine stitches, a very thorough cleaning of the wound, and a tetanus shot.
I would like to thank the Brandts and the staff of Mountainside for the very friendly and professional care that I received. I am now home in Hutchinson, Kansas, my hand has healed, and there is almost no detectable scar. Your community has many wonderful assets: a beautiful setting, friendly people, a welcoming Lutheran church, and excellent urgent care. So glad I had an opportunity to serve in Sitka

Thanks, Foreign Auto
Dear Editor: I want to thank Foreign Auto for bringing 1994 and 2021 together. Cynics had insinuated that a 1994 Dodge 350 van is not practically brand new. In fact someone went to extremes. He said a 1994 Van is obsolete.
These were folk who do not remember 1994 clearly. Gosh, 1994 just happened! Some intervening years also happened, but none is clearer or better endowed than 1994. As I think over everyone that was in 1994 and everything that happened, it certainly is vivid and fresh. Now 1984 was a year with burdensome expectations. But 1994? It was simple, clear and straightforward. It was a good year to manufacture a van that would stay practically brand new practically forever.
So I congratulate Foreign Auto for doing all the things they did to bring the van back to running something like new. I admit it has some external reminders of the years. I admit that all the things they did produced a daunting list. The supply chain caused a long delay before the rumor could be dispelled that parts could not be obtained even if transport was working. One must never blink at auto repair prices. They are what they are. And it was worth it to have a good van brought back to the future.
