Downtown Sitka and Japonski Island lost power for more than five hours Saturday morning after a 30-year-old distribution line failed near Seward Street, city officials said today.
The power went out at 6:55 a.m., and was restored section by section, finally reaching all customers downtown at 12:05 p.m., said utility Director Chris Brewton.
