Women of Moose
    To Meet Dec. 18
    Women of the Moose will hold its annual co-workers Christmas party 6:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at the lodge. All are asked to take a potluck appetizer and a plate of holiday cookies for a cookie exchange.
    Donations of unfrosted sugar cookies, candy and a holiday dessert to share are needed for the children’s party set for 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 21 at the lodge.
    Parents are reminded to sign up their children, ages 10 and younger, for the event. It is rumored that Santa will arrive at approximately noon.

    ANS to Meet
    Alaska Native Sisterhood will hold a meeting 6:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at the ANB Hall.

    Parent Power Hour
    Offered at Hames
    Hames Center offers Parent Power Hour 8:15 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays where parents may work out while child care is provided. For further information call 747-5080 or visit hamescenter.com.

    Homeless Connect
    Work Session Set
    The Easter Group will hold a Project Homeless Connect work session noon-1:30 p.m. Dec. 27 at the Sitka School District board room, 300 Kostrometinoff Street.
    The Easter Group works with other service providers in Sitka to end extreme poverty and empower people. Project Homeless Connect committee members and people interested in planning for the Project Homeless Connect event (to be held Jan. 29) are encouraged to attend.     Christmas Eve Set
    At Methodist Church
    Sitka United Methodist Church will  host two Christmas Eve services on Dec. 24.
    The first service is at 5:30 p.m., which is a traditional family service. The second service will be at 11 p.m. Both services will have candle-lighting and Christmas music.  All are welcome to attend.

    Sale Tonight at
    White E Shop
    The main store at the White Elephant Shop has all Christmas decorations and clothes for half price starting today at its 6-8 p.m. opening.
    The sale will continue noon-3 p.m. Thursday and Saturday. In the children’s store only on Monday all the toys, puzzles and dolls will be $2 per green grocery bag. It does not include books or clothes.
 
    Snow and Ice
    Program Subject
    All are invited to the Sitka Sound Science Center 10 a.m.-noon Dec. 21  to explore the magical properties of snow and ice. From snowflakes to glaciers, participants discover the frozen world.
    It is an annual passholder event, but passes are available at the door. Call Ashley at the science center for more information 747-8878.

    Blatchley Math
    Panel to Meet
    Blatchley Middle School will hold a math committee meeting 5-7 p.m. Dec. 17 in the BMS library to discuss and review math materials and alignment to the Common Core.
    The public is invited to attend.

    BMS, SHS Music
    Concert Dec. 18
    Blatchley Middle School first, second and third period concert bands, jazz I, Sitka High symphonic band and vocal jazz will perform at a winter concert 7 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Performing Arts Center.
    The concert is free and open to all.
