Organ Concerts
    Set This Week
    Marianne Gould, of New Braunfels, Texas, will perform two noon concerts, June 18 and 20, on the 1844 Kessler organ at Sitka Lutheran Church.
    The program titled “ Pipe Dreams” will feature sacred music including two pieces from Russian Orthodox liturgical music. The audience is invited to take their lunch during the concert.
    Gould will also provide music for 10:30 a.m. services at Sitka Lutheran on June 22. All are welcome.


    Kayaani to Meet
    The Kayaaní Commission will meet at the Sitka Tribe of Alaska Resource Protection Office, 429 Katlian Street, 5:30 p.m. June 17.

    School Board Meets
    Sitka School Board will meet 6 p.m. June 17 in the district office board room. The public is invited to attend.

    Planning Set
    For Alaska Day
     Continuing coordination for Sitka’s mid-October Alaska Day Festival, planners will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, at Centennial Hall.
    The 2014 theme celebrates 65 years of commemorating the 1867 transfer of Alaska from Russian claim to the United States of America.
    New volunteers or suggestions for activities are always welcome.  Contact Chairman Ted Allio at 747-5124 for more information or attend a planning meeting each third Tuesday of the month.

In Tuesday’s election, Marko Dapcevich was the apparent winner in the race for mayor; Dave Dapcevich and incumbent Al Duncan Sr. won the two Assembly seats ... Marko Dapcevcich and Dave Dapcevich are half-brothers, sons of former. Mayor John Dapcevich.
