Iota to Meet
Kappa Gamma Iota Chapter will meet 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, in the Keet Gooshi Heen Elementary School library.
Attendees are asked to take a batch of cookies to distribute to Sitka educators for National Education Week.
Science Center Closure
The Sitka Sound Science Center will be closed Tuesday and Thursday, Nov. 4 and 6 for Whalefest. Regular hours will resume Saturday, Nov. 8.
SCDC to Meet
Sitka Community Development Corporation will meet 7-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Sitka Pioneers Home Manager’s House.
SCDC is a community supported non-profit working to establish permanently affordable housing in Sitka. Members of the public are invited. For more information call 747-2860.
Volunteers Sought
For WhaleFest
The Sitka Maritime Heritage Society will have an informative exhibit at WhaleFest, with hands-on displays, a fresh-off-the-press newsletter to hand out, and maritime history and lore to share.
Volunteers are needed to help. Call Mike at 738-3661 to sign up or to learn more.
Thanks to the generosity and expertise of the the Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska broadband department, Tidal Network ; Christopher Cropley, director of Tidal Network; and Luke Johnson, Tidal Network technician, SitkaSentinel.com is again being updated. Tidal Network has been working tirelessly to install Starlink satellite equipment for city and other critical institutions, including the Sentinel, following the sudden breakage of GCI's fiberoptic cable on August 29, which left most of Sitka without internet or phone connections. CCTHITA's public-spirited response to the emergency is inspiring.
