MEHS to Honor State Champion Volleyball Team

Mt. Edgecumbe High School is inviting the public to join in a celebrating honoring the school’s girls state volleyball championship team 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the B.J. McGillis Field House. 

The program will include recognition of the championship team members and coaches; the official presentation of the Alaska Schools Activities Association state volleyball 3-A championship trophy to the school; and the event’s guest speaker, Keith Perkins.

The school administration has declared Nov. 19 as cardinal and gold school colors day, and is asking all to wear school colors as part of the celebration.

Following the official program a reception with cookies, juice and ice cream will be held.

 

‘‘This will be a very special day,’’ said Bernie Gurule, academic principal. ‘‘Please feel welcomed and help us recognize this wonderful team and school accomplishment.’’

Seven Keystone Kops took oaths on the Pioneers Home lawn Thursday, promising to create  chaos and disorder and start raising money for the annual Alaska Day celebration. For $2 you can buy this year’s button and avoid the Kops customary “fine” of a kiss.
