Health Insurance

Information Given

SEARHC will host a health insurance marketplace question-and-answer session noon-1 p.m. on April 8, 15, 22 and 29 at Kettleson Memorial Library.

Trained staff will be available to help answer health insurance questions and determine whether or not individuals are eligible for the special enrollment that ends April 30.

The special enrollment period allows a second, and final. chance for people to sign up for insurance who did not understand the tax consequences for being uninsured.

“There are so many details to learn about the Health Insurance Marketplace,” said Andrea Thomas, outreach and enrollment manager for SEARHC. “Please stop by on April 8, 15, 22 or 29 to get your marketplace questions answered.”

Sitka Counseling

To Host Training

Sitka Counseling will host community resources training 8 a.m.-5 p.m. April 10 at Centennial Hall. Lunch will be provided.

Training is for those who wish to help meet the needs of clients, consumers, patients and others. NAADAC CEUs will be provided. Contact Becky Tremain at 747-3636 with questions.

 

Grace Harbor

Easter Schedule

The Grace Harbor congregation invites the community to join them for Easter weekend services.

The Good Friday Communion Service will begin at 7 p.m. Nursery care will be provided.

Worship services are 7 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday. “Opened by the Power of God” is the theme of the message by Pastor Paul McArthur at both services. Classes with Bible lessons are planned Sunday for all ages of children and youths. Baptisms will be at the conclusion of the Sunday service.

The Sunday morning service will be preceded by the Community Sunrise Service 7 a.m. at Centennial Hall.

Conversations

With Artists Set

The Sitka Fine Arts Camp invites the public to the monthly event ‘‘Conversations with Artists’’ 6:30 p.m. April 9 at the Yaw Art Center on the SJ Campus.

Artists will be Sarah Lawrie, a Sitka painter, and Marcus Gruber, a visual artist from Berlin. Both will present their artwork and discuss it with the group.

 

Ocean Wave Quilt

Guild to Meet

The Ocean Wave Quilt Guild will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, at Grace Harbor Church. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. 

The evening will include a business meeting, show-and-tell and refreshments. The program will include a parade of handmade tote bags.

The guild meets the first Tuesday of every month, September to May. Call Jan Lovett, president, at 747-3653 with questions.

 

School Board Meets

Sitka School Board will hold a budget hearing and special meeting to approve the budget in the first reading 7 p.m. April 7 in the Sitka High library.

All are invited to attend.

 

 

Bovees Honored

At April 9 Event

The public is invited to a program to honor Chuck and Edie Bovee for their 45 years of community service 7 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at Centennial Hall.

March 1975

Police Blotter: Preston Williams reported $6 worth of gas was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at the Kiksadi. Paul Garwood said two tires on the KSA-TV van were slashed while the truck was parked at the Hobby House. George Reid, Arrowhead Trailer Court said guns, steamer trunks and decanters valued at $1,500 were stolen by burglars. A telephone was reported detached from the booth next to the post office.
