Raffle Listed

For Raven Radio

Raven Radio is selling raffle tickets for two Alaska Airlines tickets, good for travel to any destination Alaska Airlines flies with no blackout dates. 

Tickets are $10 each and available a the Sitka Farmers Markets and weekdays at the station. 

The drawing will be held Wednesday, Oct. 21. All proceeds will benefit Raven Radio.

 

Salmon Lake Trail

Hike Saturday

Sitka Trail Works will lead a hike over the Salmon Lake trail Saturday, July 25. The trail is located at the head of Silver Bay and the hike will pass the cabin on the lake and travel three miles inland to a stand of high volume old growth spruce before returning. 

Hikers will be provided with hand nippers and loppers to help with brush control along the way. The Salmon Lake cabin will be available as a rest area for the group.

Allen Marine is providing transportation and a $65 donation is requested. A limited amount of space is available. Call 747-7244 for more information and to make a reservation.

 

Youth Kayaking

Slated for Aug. 13

SAIL invites youths age 18 and younger experiencing a disability to  a morning of ocean kayaking around Mosquito Cove 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13.

No prior experience is necessary – just a desire to be on the water.

Participants can meet at the SAIL office at 514 C Lake St. SAIL will provide kayaking gear, transportation to the boat launch, and a small snack. Call Dave at 747-6859 to reserve a spot by Aug. 11.

 

Senior Hiking Set

Ages 60 and older can attend SAIL’s monthly hiking club Thursday, Aug. 20.

Transportation from the Swan Lake Senior Center is provided at 9:15 a.m. Participants will return by 11:30 a.m. Trekking poles, water and snacks are  provided. Cost of activity is $5. Contact Claire at SAIL for more information and to RSVP at 747-6859.

 

STA Seeks

Board Members

Sitka Tribe of Alaska is seeking   Tribal citizens to fill an unexpired term on the STA Tribal Council. The appointment will expire Nov. 30, 2015. Those interested in serving must send a letter of interest to Chairman Michael Baines, Tribal Council vacancy, 456 Katlian Street, Sitka AK 99835.

Tribal Council members must be 30 years old or older and have resided in the traditional territory for one year or more.
