40-Day Party for
Archie Nielsen
A 40-day party for Archie Nielsen is scheduled Sunday, July 26, at the Sheet’ka Kwaan Naa Kahidi following church services.

AFS Seeking
Host Family
AFS Sitka is looking for a fourth host family for the upcoming school year.
Three Sitka families will host high school students from Tajikistan, Germany and Thailand. The fourth student might come from Turkey, the West Bank, Indonesia or Egypt. Students will arrive in mid-August 2015 and stay until June. AFS in Sitka has a long history, and provides advice and support to hosting families. Open Mic Set
The Greater Sitka Arts Council and Sitka Folk are hosting a benefit open mic at the Larkspur Cafe 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 26.

Seafood Festival
Contests Listed
The 6th annual Sitka Seafood Festival contests will start at Crescent Harbor with the tote race at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, followed by the parade leading to SJ Campus for daylong festivities.
Contests will include: a fish head toss; fish head bobbing; crab race; a three-legged race and sack races; and possible surprise contests.

Sabbath Poetry
Retreat July 25
St. Peter’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church invites the community to a Sabbath Poetry Retreat 10 a.m.-2 p.m. July 25 at the church, 611 Lincoln Street.
