Card of Thanks
Yes, once again I was in the hospital. When we are thankful, we must give thanks where credit is due. Thanks to the 3 South crew Marc, Joe, Josie, Betty, Jeff and all the staff members; kitchen crew and Dr. Mareta, Dr. Vega and two other doctors whose names escape me. The pharmacists, They’re always so kind. Megan, my physical therapist. Jessica, my nutritionist. All the P-T crew. Everyone on every shift are all so kind. I never thought I’d be a patient so soon after my June visit, but there I was again.
This is for all my friends and family who are ill. ‘‘For I, the Lord your God,
hold your right hand; it is I who say to you: fear not, I am the one who helps you,” Isaiah 41:13.
Thank you for praying for me. Thanks, SEARHC staff.
Also, thank you, SFD, SEARHC ER crew, Dr. Kraft, ER nurse Chris, X-ray guy and other ER nurse Glen for helping me Saturday when I fell flat on my back on the cement floor. Thanks to my family for helping me and staying with me in the ER. Frank, Millie, Evadne, Hannah. Major Evadne is a great, great help and a great asset to our family.
Thank you, SFD, SEARHC, ER crew and family for helping me – God bless you.

Deer Season
Starts in Unit 4
Hunters are reminded the Unit 4 general season deer hunt for bucks only will begin Aug. 1. The season for does and bucks will begin Sept. 15.
In all hunts limited to one sex, evidence of sex must remain naturally attached to the meat, or antlers must remain naturally attached to the entire carcass, with or without viscera.
Hunters must have valid deer harvest tickets and hunting licenses in possession while hunting. Harvest tickets must be validated in sequential order and unused tickets must be carried while hunting.
All hunters, even those who did not hunt, are required to submit a deer harvest report within 15 days of taking the bag limit, or 15 days after the close of the season.
Hunters are reminded to be aware of a small number of radio-collared deer in the urban Sitka and Starrigavan valley area which are part of a management and school education project. The collars are collecting location and movement data important to this project and will eventually drop-off at set times to be recovered. The collars are either white or orange and each deer has visible ear tags (both red and yellow). Hunters are asked to avoid shooting collared deer.
‘‘The outlook for this season is excellent with good fawn production and very little, if any, winter mortality,’’ Alaska Department of Fish and Game said. ‘‘Aerial surveys have observed hundreds of deer in the alpine areas this month. Because of the rebound in the population, hunters are encouraged to include female deer in their Unit 4 harvest. Too many deer will lead to over-utilization of good winter habitat.’’
For more information, contact the Sitka area office at 747-5449.
