Easter Group Meets
The Easter Group will meet on 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at St. Peter’s Episcopal See House.
The Easter Group works with other service providers in Sitka to end extreme poverty and empower people, and interested people are encouraged to attend.

Races Set for
Seafood Festival
All are invited to join in the Sitka Seafood Festival tote race, fish-head bobbing and fish-head toss contests Saturday, Aug. 8.
Sitka Sound Seafoods, Seafood Producers Co-op, Murray Pacific and Martin Construction are sponsoring the events.
Totes, goggles and rubber gloves are being supplied.

Poet to Read
Ishmael Hope, of Juneau and Sitka, will read from his new poetry collection, ‘‘Courtesans of Flounder Hill,’’ 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at Old Harbor Books, 201 Lincoln Street.
