Services to be Saturday for David Davis III, 67

David Davis III

Services have been scheduled for David Davis III, a lifelong Sitka resident who died April 25. He was 67.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at St. Michael’s Cathedral. Lunch will follow at the American Legion, beginning at 1 p.m.

David was born April 10, 1955, in Sitka, the son of Josephine and David Davis Jr.

He attended Sitka schools and afterward was a firefighter with the Sitka Volunteer Fire Department, for eight years, and a taxi driver for some 20 years.

In recent years he became interested in carving, and created paddles and other pieces of Tlingit art that he shared with family and friends.

David was preceded in death by two brothers, Ron and Lester Davis, and a sister Josephine.

He is survived by three brothers, Robert, Patrick and Willie Davis, all of Sitka, and nephews and nieces.

Thanks to the generosity and expertise of the Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska broadband department, Tidal Network; Christopher Cropley, director of Tidal Network; and Luke Johnson, Tidal Network technician, SitkaSentinel.com is again being updated. Tidal Network has been working tirelessly to install Starlink satellite equipment for critical institutions, including the Sentinel, following the scheduled maintenance of GCI’s fiberoptic cable starting March, 13th. CCTHITA’s public-spirited response to the outage is inspiring.
