Services Set Sunday For James Land

James R. Land

James R. Land, 64, was born March 9, 1958, in Portland, Oregon, to Linda and Richard Land, and passed away Dec. 9, 2022, in Seattle after a brief illness.

James spent most of his young life living with his mom in Buffalo, New York, where he graduated from high school in 1977. He often shared memories of playing hockey and going on many adventures with his friends when he was a kid.

In his later years he lived in Sitka, James loved to fish, fix things and ride motorcycles, and was known for his clever wit. He was an active member of Calvary Chapel Sitka.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Linda and Richard Land, and is survived by his brothers Jerry and Gary Land, sisters Cindy Land and Tia Courtney, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved stepdad Bob Schutrum.

Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, in combination with Calvary Chapel Sitka’s service, meeting at 502 Hirst Street (at the Christian Center).

March 1975

Police Blotter: Preston Williams reported $6 worth of gas was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at the Kiksadi. Paul Garwood said two tires on the KSA-TV van were slashed while the truck was parked at the Hobby House. George Reid, Arrowhead Trailer Court said guns, steamer trunks and decanters valued at $1,500 were stolen by burglars. A telephone was reported detached from the booth next to the post office.
