Ted Falkner Dies at Age 88; Was with the Forest Service

Theodore “Ted” Falkner

Theodore “Ted” Falkner, who was with the U.S. Forest Service for 42 years, died March 11 in Kent, Washington. He was 88.

Ted was born Feb. 24, 1937, in Everett, Washington, the son of Dean and Marie Falkner. He married Carol Sue McArdle on August 26, 1960, and graduated from Humboldt State University, Arcata, California, in 1967.

He joined the U.S. Forest Service in 1957, went to Juneau in 1975, and came to Sitka in 1979. He moved to Kent about a year ago.

Ted was preceded in death by his wife, who died in 2020, and his son Todd, who died in 2023.

He is survived by his daughters, Marci Williams (Jay) of Seattle, Washington, and Patty Ady (Rod) of Sitka, and by four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Sitka High Wolves won one and lost two at the state basketball tourney in Anchorage, while Wrangell Wolves lost two games in a row and was out. In Sitka’s loss to Diamond, Kevin Monagle had 14 points. John Hansen and Paul Haavig made the all-tournament team.
