Surrounded by her family in Naples, Florida, Patricia Ann McGraw Gensler made her journey to Heaven on Sept. 26, 2014. She was 74.
Patti McGraw was born to Donald R. McGraw and Zenia Hanlon McGraw in Sitka, on April 22, 1940.
She graduated from Sitka High School in 1958 and attended Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon. After college, she returned to Sitka and worked for Alaska Lumber and Pulp, Sitka Telephone Company and First National Bank of Anchorage, where she worked for many years. She retired from the banking industry in 1999, just after moving to Naples.
Patti was a member of the Women of the Moose, Sweet Adelines and Sitka Emblem Club. She was even a Little League assistant coach for her son’s team for a season!
Patti is survived by husband of 24 years Robert W. Gensler of Naples, Florida; daughter Rayann Kroening (Dave) of Palmer, Alaska; son Ron Hansen of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; daughter Jodi Hawkins of Monroe, Washington; stepdaughter Lauri Meyer (Dave) and stepson Tobin Gensler both of De Pere, Wisconsin; brother Jim McGraw (Judy) of Lorena, Texas; her beloved grandchildren Zachery, Tyler, Alexa, Trevor, Skye, Sarah, Madison and Cole; nephews Steve McGraw, Tom Karpstein, Doug Karpstein, Steve Karpstein and Brad McGraw; nieces Sandra Nolan, Theresa Yoder, Sue Lichtenberger and Kerri Roepel; and first cousin Willis Osbakken of Sitka.
She is preceded in death by both her parents, brother Donald McGraw Jr. (Mary) and sister Bernadine Karpstein (Carl).
Patti will forever be remembered for her courageous strength, uplifting love and bright smile that lit up a room. She was a friend to all and will be missed beyond measure. She brought a little sparkle to everything she touched. She was proudest of her children and grandchildren, whom she loved and celebrated every day.
The family extended their gratitude to the nurses at Avow Hospice of Naples, for the care, compassion and comfort they provided.
In remembrance of Patti, the family invites friends to share their stories and memories on her Facebook page (Patti McGraw) for all to read and reminisce about. “Forever in our hearts, an angel on our pillows.”
