3 New Cases On Sitka Virus Board

With two new resident and one nonresident virus cases posted to the city dashboard, Sitka’s 14-day rolling case rate continued its slow creep upward to .79 cases per day.

Sitka’s risk for COVID-19 transmission is still at “moderate” with 9 current active cases.

The new positive tests posted Thursday were for a man and woman resident in their 50s who were tested on Wednesday; and an asymptomatic nonresident in his 40s tested Thursday. Contact tracing is in process, but the transmission classification for the nonresident was listed as “travel.”

Vaccination levels reported on the dashboard was 4,543 “partially vaccinated” (65.55 percent); and 4,070 “fully vaccinated” (58.72 percent). The percentages are based on the 16 and older population of 6,931.
