Sitka’s coronavirus response team, Unified Command, said Wednesday the Alaska Department of Health reported another positive test result for COVID-19 on Tuesday.
The cumulative positive test count for Sitka residents is 46, and 17 for nonresidents, with one cumulative hospitalization.
The COVID alert level for the city is “yellow,” the lowest in the color code systems. The dashboard shows Sitka with three active cases and a 14-day rolling average of .36 cases per day.
The latest case confirmed by Department of Health and Social Services
is a male resident, age 50-59, who was symptomatic. The patient is isolating and contact tracing has begun, Unified Command said in a news release.
The Sitka School District uses a different color code system than the city’s, with “green” the lowest alert level. The city dashboard shows the local schools are at green, indicating “minimal community transmission.”
Mt. Edgecumbe High School uses the same color system as the city, and is currently at “low” or “yellow.”
The State of Alaska is reporting 6,950 cumulative resident cases statewide, as of Tuesday.
“Data is provisional and may change,” Unified Command said. “Please note that occasionally there is a lag between cases being reported on the DHSS data dashboard and what local communities report as details are confirmed and documentation is received.”
