The seven new positive virus test results in the last two days have brought Sitka’s case rate average to 4.93 cases per day.
The total number of active cases is 31, with a cumulative number of four hospitalizations.
The latest positive case results were for tests taken Nov. 25-Dec. 1, and all but one are isolating in Sitka:
Monday results (Nov. 30):
- a symptomatic male, 0-9, tested Nov. 25, transmission classification “travel,” contact tracing completed.
- a symptomatic male, 10-19. tested Nov. 29, “secondary,” completed.
- a symptomatic male, 60-69, tested Nov. 27, “community spread,” completed.
- an asymptomatic female, 40-49, tested Nov. 30, “secondary,” completed.
- a symptomatic male, 0-9, tested Nov. 28, “secondary,” completed.
Tuesday results (Dec. 1):
- a male, 20-29, tested Nov. 30, contact tracing in process.
- an asymptomatic female, 10-19, tested Dec. 1, “secondary,” completed.
Sitka’s cumulative total of positive test results is 192, with 21 non-residents. Of the 213 cumulative case total, 174 are listed as “recovered.”
The latest wastewater analysis report from UAA showed that the sample taken from Nov. 22, “exhibited an indicator of COVID-19 in the sample,” said UAA’s report. “Wastewater detection suggests community transmission in this context. The count value decreased (from 37.7 on the Nov. 16 sample to 34.5) on the Nov. 22 sample indicating a higher concentration of viral particles in the wastewater.”
