Eight new positive COVID-19 cases were added to Sitka’s dashboard on Wednesday, results of tests given Nov. 30-Dec. 1.
Two more positive results were added before noon today; the dashboard is generally updated around 5 p.m. but sometimes positive test results are posted earlier.
Sitka’s number of active cases was at 38 by press time today. The 14-day rolling case rate is 4.93 average cases per day. All of the cases from Tuesday and Wednesday are isolating in Sitka.
The positive tests for Wednesday (Dec. 2) were for:
- an asymptomatic female, 30-39, tested Dec. 1, with a transmission classification of “community spread.” Contact tracing is “completed.”
- a symptomatic female, 10-19, tested Dec. 2, with a transmission classification of “secondary,” tracing completed.
- a symptomatic female, 10-19, tested Nov. 30, “secondary,” completed.
- a symptomatic male, 20-29, tested Nov. 30, “secondary,” tracing completed.
- a symptomatic male, 40-49, tested Nov. 30, “secondary,” completed.
- a male, 40-49, tested Nov. 30, contact tracing in process.
- a symptomatic male, 50-59, tested Dec. 1, “secondary,” completed.
- a symptomatic female, 10-19, tested Dec. 1, “secondary,” completed.
Results before noon today, Dec. 3, were for:
- a symptomatic female, 10-19, tested Dec. 1, “secondary,” completed.
- a female, 60-69, tested Dec. 1, contact tracing in progress.
Sitka’s cumulative positive test total is 200 residents and 21 nonresidents. Of the 221 positive test results since the beginning of the pandemic, 175 are listed as “recovered.” The cumulative hospitalizations is four.
Sitka’s rolling average has been higher than one case per day since Nov. 3, and for the past few days has been 5 or just under 5, based on a two-week rolling average.
Most of Sitka’s schools are conducting classes virtually, with the exception of Baranof Elementary, where in-person classes are being held. (See school story in today’s Sentinel.)
The dashboard also notes the total number of tests performed in Sitka: 38,058, with 37,854 results received. Results are pending for 204 tests. The dashboard lists 230 positive results, and 211 “unique positive results.” The number of negative results is 37,624.
