Budget Meeting
The Sitka School Board will hold a meeting for the final budget hearing and adoption 6 p.m. April 19 at the Sitka High School Library.
The School Board is encouraging community members to attend.
Sport Lingcod
Limits to Change
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game announced the lingcod sport fishing seasons, bag and possession limits, annual limits, and size limits have been established for the Northern Southeast Area.
Residents may take one fish daily, two in possession, with no size limit. Non-residents are allowed one a day, one in possession, 30-35 inches or 55 inches or greater in length. Non-residents have an annual limit of two fish.

Offers Scholarships
Fee waiver scholarships for City and Borough of Sitka Parks and Recreation summer programming are available at recreationatcityofsitka.com. Fillable forms can be found on the Parks and Recreation page of cityofsitka.com.
The youth scholarship program is designed to provide financial assistance through full or partial (awards maximum $300 per child, per fiscal year) for youths who may not otherwise be able to participate in classes, camps and activities. Scholarships are made possible by donations from the Melsness Family Foundation.
Summer program registration begins April 24. Individuals should apply prior to registering.

Registration Open
For Tumbling Class
The City and Borough of Sitka Parks and Recreation will open registration for summer tumbling programming on April 24 at recreationatcityofsitka.com.
Tongass Tumblers is a gymnastics program led by Trisha Bessert focused on trampoline and tumbling. The program utilizes a full-sized spring floor, rod floor, super trampoline, and a double mini trampoline. Skills are taught based on the individual gymnast.
Classes will be held at Keet Gooshi Heen. Session one is June 5-30. Dates for sessions two and three in July and August are TBA.

Preschool in Motion
Registration Open
The City and Borough of Sitka Parks and Recreation will open registration for Preschool in Motion on April 24 at recreationatcityofsitka.com.
It is for 3- and 4-year-olds. The recreational movement-based program led by Trisha Bessert works on body awareness and confidence through fine and gross-motor activities.
Activities will include gymnastics, crafts, gross motor learning games, sensory activities, and fine-motor projects. The program will consist of indoor and outdoor activities.
Classes are to be held 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays and Fridays at Keet Gooshi Heen. Session one is June 5-16; session two is June 19-30. The cost is $85 for each session and scholarships are available.

Harp Sing Set
All are invited to learn to sing four-part a capella harmony in the Sacred Harp (shape note) tradition 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at the Pioneers Home chapel.
Beginners and listeners are welcome. Singing is from the red Denson and Christmas books. Loaner books are available. Masks are optional. For information call Sara at 747-2915.
Cultural Family
Activities On Tap
Sitka Tribe of Alaska Social Services Department will present summer cultural family activities.
Beach excursions and wildlife cruises will be available to STA tribal citizens and their families. Registration is required and space is limited. They include picnicking, harvesting traditional foods, cultural topics discussion, sightseeing and learning Tlingit place names.

Beach excursion dates are 3:30-7:30 p.m. May 27, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. June 23, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. July 21 and 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Aug. 20.
Wildlife cruise dates are 1-4 p.m. May 6, June 3 and Aug. 12.
