Panel Meets

The Sitka Fish and Game Advisory Committee will hold a public meeting via teleconference 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 8.

Because of the COVID-19 health emergency, the meeting will be available only telephonically.

The call-in phone number is 1-800-504-8071, and the access code is 4654046.

The agenda will include considering log book proposals for self-guided charters and fishing boat rentals and other proposals put forward by the AC and community members.

Meetings are open to the public and all are welcomed to participate.

Advisory committees are local groups that meet to discuss fishing and wildlife issues and provide recommendations to Alaska Board of Fisheries and Alaska Board of Game.

 

Easter Services

Set for St. Peter’s

St. Peter’s by-the-Sea Eposcopal Church has announce Holy Week, Palm Sunday and Easter services.

–Palm Sunday, 10 a.m. April 5.

–Holy Week, noon Monday through Saturday, April 6-11.

–Easter Sunday, 10 a.m. April 12.

Worship services at St. Peter’s are currently being held online or can be accessed by phone. For information on how to join the service online or by phone, or for any other questions, email the church at stpetersbytheseak@gmail.com. 

The church building and the See House building are currently closed, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Pesticide Training

Slated April 14-16

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service will offer certified pesticide applicator training 9 a.m.-5 p.m. April 14-16 by distance delivery.

The Zoom webinar training is for individuals who wish to become a certified pesticide applicator or to maintain current state certification.

The fee is $75. Registration at http://bit.ly/PestInvasive is recommended by April 13. Participants are being encouraged to become familiar with the online materials and required math beforehand.

Post-training exams are not being scheduled at this time due to COVID-19 concerns. For information, contact Delta Extension agent Phil Kaspari at pnkaspari@alaska.edu or Katie Rubin at cerubin@alaska.edu.

 

Gentle Yoga

Classes on Tap

Yoga Union is offering gentle yoga classes via Zoom 1 p.m. April 3 and April 7.

Instructor Lisa Sadleir-Hart is requesting a $5 to $10 donation, which is shared with Sitka Mutual Aid, the Food Bank of Alaska and the Yasodhara Ashram.
