Big Rigs Sought
For May 7 Event
Big rigs are needed for 3 to 5 Preschool’s annual Big Rig fundraiser 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, rain or shine, at the Mt. Edgecumbe High School parking lot at 1332 Seward Ave.
The preschool especially is looking for rigs kids can experience – riding on and moving the gears. Those having rigs can call Marcia Hirai at 1-360-481-1505.
The family event includes fire trucks, heavy equipment and various big rigs from around town. A kids fun run starts at 10:30 a.m.
Also available will be hot dogs, nachos, pancit, baked goods, and Sitka Swirls ice cream.
Sponsors are Arrowhead Transfer, Sitka Emblem Club, Prewitt Enterprises, Hardrock Construction, Absolute Tree Care, Sitka Swirls, Hames Corporation, Sitka Bulk Foods and Sitka Soup.
Harbor Users Asked
To Conserve Water
The city Harbor Department reminds harbor users to conserve water by turning off water hoses that are available for use on the harbor docks.
‘‘Conserving water by turning off the hoses will reduce water and wastewater treatment costs,’’ the city said.

Quilters to Meet
Ocean Wave Quilters meets 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at United Methodist Church and via Zoom.
Monthly meetings, September through June, are open to all, members or not. Those wishing to pay the $25 dues receive a monthly newsletter, discounts on classes and other benefits.

Ocean Wave Quilters will sponsor an open sewing session 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at United Methodist Church.
All are invited to attend. Irons, ironing boards, tables and chairs are provided. Lunch is a potluck.

Fisherman’s Flea
Market Planned
The annual Fisherman’s Flea Market will be held 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 14, at the Mt. Edgecumbe/UAS Sitka Campus parking lots.
Those with marine-related items to sell can load up their vehicles and park in front of the MEHS gym prior to 9 a.m.
Buyers are being asked to park in the UAS parking lot. Those with questions can call Denise at 907-747-5012. The market is sponsored by SouthEast Alaska Women In Fisheries.
