STA Seeking
Proposals for
Strategic Plan
Sitka Tribe of Alaska, a federally recognized Indian tribe, is seeking proposals from consultants and firms to guide development of a renewed comprehensive strategic plan.
Written proposals and an electronic PDF must be received by the tribe no later than 4:30 p.m. ADT on May 24. Proposals received after the deadline will not be accepted or considered, the tribe said.

Back-to-Biking
Workshop May 5
A free back-to-biking workshop will be held 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, at the Salty Spoke Bike co-op, located behind the Hames Center.
The purpose of the outdoor event is to review the basics of safe recreational and commuter bicycling in Sitka. It will include a group ride, participation gifts, and a chance to work on maintaining bicycles. Kenwa Karate
Meeting May 10
Kenwa Karate of Sitka will hold its annual meeting 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 10, via Zoom.

Farewell Picnic Set
The public can wish Dr. Jake Walden an adventurous journey ahead at a community farewell picnic 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at the Halibut Point Recreation Area shelter.

SHS Drama
Presents Play
‘Odd Couple’
The Sitka High School theater department will stage the play “The Odd Couple (Female Version),” by Neil Simon.
The show is 7 p.m. Friday, May 14, and Saturday, May 15; and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 16, at the Performing Arts Center.
Christian Litten is directing the classic play, which has been rewritten by Simon for a female “odd couple.” The play – revised and updated from the 1965 original – premiered on Broadway in 1985 and starred Rita Moreno and Sally Struthers.
Tickets at the door are $10 for adults and $5 for students. The play includes some mature language and adult themes.

Workshop to Run
Sitka Tribe of Alaska’s ‘‘Linking Generations by Strengthening Relationships’’ will be presented 1:15-2:45 p.m. Wednesdays beginning May 5 via Zoom.

The program is financially supported by a grant from the Alaska children’s Trust.
