Assembly To Hear Police Case

    The Assembly has scheduled a discussion, direction and a possible decision on the selection of a third party investigator of the police department, at its regular meeting, 6 p.m. Tuesday at Centennial Hall.
    The Assembly packet includes a draft ordinance appropriating $35,000 for the project.
    The Assembly also will vote on a liquor license renewal for Halibut Point Crab & Brew at 4513 Halibut Point Road, and make decisions on fair market value appraisals for airport subleases and the Gary Paxton Industrial Park utility dock and access ramp.
    In new business, there will be first readings of supplemental appropriation ordinances concerning the Shepard vs. city lawsuit; the city’s datacenter storage upgrade; and amending Title 22 Zoning of the Sitka general code by modifying chapters on Definitions and Zoning Maps and Boundaries, District Regulations, and Supplemental District Regulations and Development Standards, to create a Cemetery District.
     Additional new business includes a license renewal application for Baranof Island Brewing Company LLC, and approval of the hiring of Bruce Wall as the new city planning director.
    The Assembly also will present a Service Award to Allison Massey (Parks and Recreation Committee) and Dan Jones (Gary Paxton Industrial Park Board of Directors).
    Special reports will be heard (five minute time limits) on items including Government to Government, Municipal Boards/Commissions/Committees, Sitka Community Hospital, Municipal Departments and the School District.
    At 6 p.m. Thursday, the Assembly will hold a special meeting on the fiscal year 2020 city operating budget.
