Registration On
Sitka High School cross country has started.
Students wanting to join the team can meet 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Sitka High back gym.

Municipal Election
Options in Place
Registered Sitka voters can cast ballots in the Oct. 5 municipal election using the following options.
Voters may submit an application to receive an absentee ballot by mail. Ballots will be mailed mid-September and must be returned to the municipal clerk’s office before 8 p.m. on Oct. 5, or postmarked by Oct. 5.
Early in-person voting is available 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays Sept. 20-Oct. 4 at Harrigan Centennial Hall. Enhanced protective measures, along with social distancing, will be in place to ensure safety for poll workers and voters.
Voters may submit an application to vote by electronic transmission. Voted ballots by electronic transmission must be submitted according to the municipal clerk’s instructions and received no later than 8 p.m. election day, Oct. 5.
Those unable to vote in person due to age, serious illness or disability may have a personal representative pick up a ballot beginning Sept. 20. Contact the municipal clerk’s office for more information.
In-person election day voting is scheduled 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Oct. 5 at precincts in Harrigan Centennial Hall. Enhanced protective measures, along with social distancing, will ensure safety for poll workers and voters.

Ideas Sought for
Health Summit
At the citizen-centered virtual planning day Sept. 23, two health-related initiatives will be chosen as the 2021-2022 Health Summit goals.
Each new goal receives an award of $2,000 and additional support. Past goals have included The Cloud teen center, the Fish to Schools program, Sitka Farmers Market, the Choose Respect mural project, bike/walk friendly community programming, combating meth, Sitka Kitch, the Hames Center, downtown revitalization efforts, becoming a trauma informed community, CO2 emissions reduction, and construction of the ADA accessible Sitka Community Playground.
All residents can provide suggestions, in three sentences or less, to the question ‘‘What inspiring health initiative deserves Sitka’s attention in the next 365 days?’’
Entries must be submitted by noon, Sept. 14, to www.sitkahealthsummit.org or put in the submission boxes at the Hames Center, Sitka Public Library, UAS-Sitka Campus or WildFlour Cafe and Bakery.
Peterson Street
Open to Traffic
Peterson Street has opened to through traffic.
The city said some construction activities on the Peterson Street Fish Passage between Edgecumbe Drive and Cascade Street will continue over the next two to three weeks with minimal impacts to traffic flow and no full road closures anticipated.
