Volunteers Sought
At Boathouse
Volunteers are needed to help repair a piece of Sitka’s history at the Sitka Maritime Heritage Society’s Japonski Island Boathouse work party 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Aug. 31.

State Rep. Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins will hold public office hours on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Backdoor and 10-11 a.m. a.m. at Highliner Coffee.

Resource Advisory
Sitka Tribe of Alaska is seeking information from Tribal citizens wanting to serve on Sitka Resource Advisory Committee of the U.S. Forest Service.
Those wanting to serve a four-year term should submit an application by Aug. 30 to the Sitka Ranger District. Go to www.fs.usda.gov/pts/ for additional information.
To request a Tribal Council recommendation, contact Jeff Feldpausch at 747-3207 prior to close of business on Aug. 28.
Chamber to Meet
Warren Russell, GCI regional vice president for Southeast Alaska, will present an update on GCI’s initiatives to improve communications in Sitka and throughout Alaska at the Chamber of Commerce luncheon noon Wednesday at Westmark Sitka.
The luncheon is open to the public.

Adult CPR Taught
An adult Heartsaver CPR and first aid class will be offered Aug. 31 at the Sitka Fire Hall.
