Police and fire department crews this morning recovered the body of a man found floating in Sitka Channel, next to the seawall.
The man was identified as Ronald Cameron, 65, skipper and owner of the F/V Allysen Moriah, police said.
In a news release, police said the department received a call at 7:30 a.m. reporting what appeared to be a person floating face down in the water near the seawall by Seafood Producers Cooperative.
EMT crews and police were able to pull the man from the water, and began CPR. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Next of kin have been notified and no foul play is suspected. The body will be sent to the state Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for autopsy, Police Chief Robert Baty said.
