Following is a partial list of items included or vetoed in the budget bill signed by Gov. Dunleavy Thursday.
What’s in the budget
According to a list of items provided by the Office of Management and Budget:
• $73 million for highways and airports, which secures $877.2 million in federal funds
• $12 million for rural water and wastewater projects, unlocking over $52 million in federal aid
• $7.4 million for tourism marketing by the Alaska Travel Industry Association
• $2.54 million to Hiland Mountain Women’s Mental Health Unit
• $2 million for Northwest Arctic Borough school construction and major maintenance
• $2.5 million for the state’s Arctic Strategic Transportation and Resources program, which involves North Slope planning
• $1.5 million for the AHFC Rental Assistance for Victims Program
• $3.6 million for the AHFC Homeless Assistance Program
• $1.75 million for AHFC senior citizen housing
• $250,000 for the Inter-Island Ferry Authority
• $13.5 million for Alaska Marine Highway System vessel overhaul and certification needed to keep ferries running
• $1.6 million for the state’s Harbor Grant Program
The biggest vetoes
According to a list of vetoes provided by the Office of Management and Budget:
• $10 million matching grants for addiction treatment facility construction
• $5 million for insulating and weatherizing homes
• $4 million for a natural gas storage facility in North Pole
• $3.6 million for the AHFC Homeless Assistance Program, half of what was budgeted by the Legislature.
• $2.5 million for the USArray earthquake monitoring network
• $2.5 million for deferred maintenance at the University of Alaska (the Legislature and governor has already funded $5 million in deferred maintenance)
• $1.75 million for AHFC to build housing for teachers, health care workers and public safety workers
• $1 million for public transportation matching grants.
