Coast Guard Air Station Sitka medevacked a logger to Ketchikan Tuesday after he was injured by a falling rock near Klawock.

Alaska State Troopers received the call at 7:20 a.m., stating the man sustained multiple “crushing” injuries to his head, neck, chest, shoulder and arm.

The accident occurred in the area of Duke Creek and The One Duke Trail, southeast of Craig and Klawock, off of Hydaburg road. Troopers and Klawock EMS responded on ATVs.

No age or hometown were given for the patient, and no information available about who called for help.

The Air Station received the troopers’ call at 8 a.m. and launched a helicopter shortly afterward, the Coast Guard said.

“The patient was cared for at the site until USCG responded via helicopter for a medevac,” troopers said.

The patient was flown to Ketchikan, where he was released to EMS crews at 10:50 a.m. in stable condition, troopers said.
