The Sitka Alaska Permanent Charitable Trust board of advisors will meet by Zoom 6 p.m. Tuesday to hear presentations from 13 local organizations seeking grants from the $96,700 to be distributed to educational and nonprofit organizations this year.
The meeting can be viewed by the public.
The seven-member trust board will meet again at 6 p.m. Wednesday, also on Zoom, to make decisions on the names and amounts of the awards, which are made in two categories, Education and Science, and Arts and Community Betterment.
Wells Fargo Bank is the trustee and investment manager of the fund, with 4 percent of the account value distributed in grants each year. As of March 31 the fund value was $2,520,356.
The trust is the largest charitable grant-making organization in Sitka, and has been making annual awards to local organizations since it was created and funded by Alaska Pulp Corp. in 1995 as the settlement of an environmental lawsuit.
