Sitka logged five COVID cases in the last two days, putting the weekly case total at 20 and the case rate at 234.66.
Any case rate of 100 or higher keeps the community on high alert. The case rate is the weekly total, adjusted for 100,000 population.
Three cases were reported Monday and another two on Tuesday, and eight cases were dropped off the one-week timeline.
The state now updates its data Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but will not be doing so on Friday this week or next week because of holidays.
“The only updates we’ll get for the rest of the year are Monday, the 27th, and Wednesday, the 29th,” said Melissa Henshaw, city public and government relations director. Figures are reported by the Alaska Division of Health and Social Services, which the city uses for its own dashboard at cityofsitka.org.
As a reminder to those expecting guests and visiting family over the holidays, Henshaw encouraged testing for all travelers coming into Sitka, in line with the local mitigation guidance during “high alert” times.
Sitka’s vaccination data hasn’t changed much in the last few weeks, with 81.4 percent of those age 5 and up receiving one or more doses of vaccine; 77.3 percent fully vaccinated; and 35.7 percent receiving a booster shot.
