Seiners harvested 480,000 chum salmon among 105 boats during Thursday’s 15-hour common property opening in the Northern Southeast Regional Aquaculture Association Crawfish Inlet fishery. The fishery is closed today.
According to Alaska Department of Fish & Game area management biologist Eric Coonradt, per conversations with NSRAA general manager Steve Reifenstuhl, the plan was for Silver Bay Seafoods to do cost recovery Monday and Tuesday of next week and possibly Wednesday, and then potentially have another common property opening on Thursday.
The total Crawfish Inlet chum seine harvest to date is just over 1.5 million fish and puts the total run to just under 3 million fish, Fish & Game has reported.
