The state did not update its COVID cases dashboard on Monday due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
As a result the local dashboard at cityofsitka.org remained unchanged since Friday, with a seven-day case number of 157 and a case rate of 1,842. The case rate is the number of weekly cases, adjusted for a population of 100,000.
The case rate for Jan. 7-13 ranks among the highest since the start of the pandemic. The record case rate is 2,346.59, in a week that 200 positive tests cases were reported, of July 16-22, 2021. The entire state on Friday had case rates of 100 or higher, putting the entire state in the high alert range.
The state updates its statistics for cases, hospitalizations, deaths and vaccinations every Monday, Wednesday and Friday except holidays.
