RN Graduation

At UAS Friday

The 2018 UAA Sitka cohort of registered nurse students will graduate and get their nursing school pins 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, in Room 229 at UAS-Sitka Campus.

 

The short ceremony will be followed by a reception with cake served. The event is open to the public.

 

Foster Family

Film to Show

Youth Advocates and the Coliseum Theater have arranged a showing of “Instant Family,” a portrayal of a family with foster children 7:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at the theater.

Sitka foster families will be present for the show and for the brief introduction preceding it. Families and persons interested in becoming foster parents or mentors are invited to attend.

The presentation by Youth Advocates staff and the question-and-answer session begin at 7:15 p.m. The movie begins at 7:30 p.m. 

 

Christmas Bazaar

At St. Michael’s

St. Michael’s Christmas bazaar will be 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, in the Cathedral basement. 

Tables for craft items are available at $20 each. Clam chowder, chili and fried bread will be for sale.

‘Sitka Nutcracker’

Film to Screen

‘‘Sitka Nutcracker–An Alaskan Tale’’ will be screened 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at the Coliseum Theater.

The original presentation was staged in December of 2017. The event is a fundraiser for Nuutcracker 2019.

Tickets are $5 at the door for all ages.

 

Parents of Preschoolers

Invited to Take Survey

Parents and primary caregivers to  children ages birth to 5 years are invited 9-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, to McDonald’s Restaurant for coffee and cookies, as they take the early childhood survey.

The short survey is private and confidential. It concerns access to childcare and parenting resources in Sitka.

 

‘‘It will help our community prioritize needs for early childhood programs in Sitka,’’ organizers said.
