CO2 Reducers
Meet Wednesday
The CO2 reducers action group will meet 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the Island Institute, 304 Baranof Street.
The group said carbon dioxide is the primary greenhouse gas that is responsible for global warming/ocean acidification. Reducing Sitka’s total emissions was identified as a top goal during the 2017 Sitka Health Summit. For information go to www.sitkahealthsummit.org.
Ramshackle
Slated Dec. 22
The Ramshackle Cabaret Holiday Comedy and Burlesque Show will be Dec. 22, below the Mean Queen. Doors open at 8 p.m.
All proceeds support the nonprofit Ramshackle Cabaret, and other nonprofit groups. Tickets are on sale at Old Harbor Books and Mean Queen for $15 each.
Marine Highway
Schedule Released
The Alaska Marine Highway System has released its 2019 summer schedule. Reservations are available for booking at FerryAlaska.com, by calling 1-800-642-0066, or visiting ferry terminal staff throughout the system.
The AMHS summer schedule covers ferry travel from May through September 2019. Fare information is available at FerryAlaska.com or from reservations agents.
Pregnancy Center
Closure Noted
Sitka Pregnancy Center, 25 Mountainview Estates at 180 Price Street, will be closed Dec. 22 through 1 p.m. Jan. 7.

Volunteers Sought
For Holiday Dinner
The annual traditional Community Christmas Dinner will be Dec. 25 at the ANB Founders Hall. Doors open at 1 p.m., and dinner is served at 2 p.m.
The dinner is being sponsored by the Alaska Native Brotherhood Camp 1 and Alaska Native Sisterhood Camp 4, in partnership with the Salvation Army.
An organizational meeting will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the ANB Founders Hall for those who would like to attend to learn more about the dinner; however, it is not necessary for volunteers to attend, as they will be informed by phone or on Christmas Day at noon as to how they can help at the dinner.
For those who would like to stop by to lend a hand, the following dates and times are given: Dec. 23, 3-5 p.m., turkeys can be picked up, and the set-up and decorating the hall will occur; on Dec. 24, 1-5 p.m., will be food preparation in the kitchen, and cooked turkeys and dessert donations can be dropped off; and on Dec. 25, 9 a.m.-noon, cooked turkeys and desserts donations can be dropped off at the hall.
Those wishing to serve tables at the dinner can come to the hall at noon on Christmas Day to eat dinner first, and then be assigned a table to serve or a task.
Anyone who would like to volunteer to cook a turkey, which is provided with a roasting pan that can be picked up at the hall or delivered; or to volunteer to decorate and set up, serve, help in the kitchen, or clean up are welcome, and can call Karen at 747-7803 to sign up.
Contributions are being accepted to help finance the dinner in the form of gift cards at Sea Mart or AC Lakeside, or checks mailed to ANB Founders Hall Attn: Rachel Henderson, 235 Katlian. Food donations of potatoes, yams, frozen green beans, stuffing, turkeys, hams, etc. are also accepted. Call Debe at 738-4323 to arrange a pick-up or delivery time.
A surprise visit from Santa, a Christmas elf and a Christmas dog bearing gifts for the children, and caroling are planned for the dinner. All are welcome to attend.
