Absentee and questioned ballots cast in the Oct. 1 municipal election were counted Friday, but didn’t alter the outcome as indicated in the ballot count on the night of the election, Tuesday.
The absentee and question ballots showed 178 votes more for Thor Christiansen, bringing his total count to 1,126. Kevin Knox picked up 255 votes, bringing his total to 1,395. Benjamin Miyasato received 156 more votes, bringing him to 735; and Steve Lee received 79 more votes, bringing him to 562 total. Aaron Bean got 82 absentee and question votes, for a total of 340.
The absentee and questioned ballots in the School Board race didn’t change the outcome there either. Paul Rioux received 225, bringing his total to 1,367. Cass Pook added 153 more votes, for a total of 769.
Proposition 1, the proposed plastic bag ban, failed in the absentee and questioned ballot count, with 176 yes votes and 223 no, bringing the final totals to 915 yes and 1,322 no.
The Assembly will certify the election results at Tuesday night’s regular meeting, when Knox and Christiansen will take the oath of office. Rioux will be sworn in by the School Board at a special board meeting in the district office board room at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11.
