Deadline Near for
Paper Chain Project
The deadline to participate in Sitka Public Library’s Kids for Peace Linked by Love campaign to set a new Guinness World Record is Feb. 15.
To contribute to the 110-plus-mile inspirational paper chain should use recycled paper to create strips of paper between 11 and 18 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. The strips need to be decorated with ‘‘love’’ and ‘‘hope’’ and placed in an envelope with name and address. The envelopes should be taken to Sitka Public Library any time before Feb. 15 to be mailed to Kids for Peace.
Once COVID-19 pandemic social-distancing is lifted, the Linked By Love paper-chain will be assembled, the library said. After the chain is officially measured for the Guinness World Record, Kids for Peace will distribute sections to hospitals, senior centers, libraries and more as a reminder that ‘‘we are all Linked By Love,’’ organizers said.
