Health Series

Set Via Zoom

Cooperative Extension in Juneau and Sitka will offer a health self-management program via Zoom beginning Feb. 27.

Living Well Southeast Alaska will meet 9:30 a.m.-noon Saturdays through April 3. Southeast Extension agent Sarah Lewis said individuals with ongoing health conditions will learn how to better manage symptoms, reduce limitations caused by pain, communicate effectively with their health care team, cope with difficult emotions and make daily tasks easier.

Lewis said the classes are helpful for individuals with conditions like arthritis, diabetes, depression, chronic pain, multiple sclerosis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD.

Jasmine Shaw in Sitka and Sarah Lewis in Juneau will lead the sessions hosted by the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service. Registration is available at http://bit.ly/LivingWellSE. The cost is $50, but fee waivers are available upon request. Accommodation requests related to a disability should be made seven business days in advance to Lewis at sarah.lewis@alaska.edu. Also contact Lewis about fee waivers.
